Adhemar Ahmad Shines at NYC’s Outsider Art Fair!

We moved to NYC in July 2007 and were desperate to find a community and a friend.

Meeting Adhemar Ahmad on the street corner of 112th and Broadway gave me both.

Through a simple chess set, we built The Gift of Chess community, that has inspired the world.

Each day, we would meet with our chess sets and an open heart on Manhattans Upper West Side. With a few simple chess sets placed on the street, It became a convergence point for community and opportunity.

Beyond being a brilliant chess player, Ahmad was an author, book seller, and artist. Over the years we have welcomed people from across the world to join us on that street corner. From Magnus Carlson to Tunde Onakoya to those just passing by, everyone was welcome.

After 35 years of creating art, this past week Ahmad publicly shared his art for the 1st time at the world renowned Outsider Art Fair hosted in NYC. He was represented by my dear friend eric fallen.

On the shows very 1st day Ahmad sold three of his incredible pieces.

Opportunity is finding what sets your heart of fire and being able to share it with the world. We all have talents, let’s be relentless in elevating those around us, whose with incredible talents are just waiting to take flight.

On the 3rd day, Ahmad shared his work with world renowned art critic and Pulitzer Prize winner Jerry Saltz, receiving praise.
